The pukekos who look on our paddocks and back garden as their special habitat are beginning to be a bit of a nuisance. They pinched most of our feijoas - it was not an unusual sight to see a pukeko dashing past with fruit speared on its beak - and I didn't get any feijoa and lemon jam made this season. Grrr

Feijoas are originally from Brazil, but we don't pronounce those properly. *grin* Fee-joe-uh

The pukeko is beautiful, even though I can agree that he would be somewhat of a pain in the butt. :(
