The pukekos who look on our paddocks and back garden as their special habitat are beginning to be a bit of a nuisance. They pinched most of our feijoas - it was not an unusual sight to see a pukeko dashing past with fruit speared on its beak - and I didn't get any feijoa and lemon jam made this season. The House of Kiwi is awash with spots at present. I must admit the majority of those are mine, as my skin has an irish tendency to freckle (when I was little, my sister played join the dots on my face), as opposed to the Hubby's latino olive skin that just has a tendency to get darker.
