Dynasty is as dynasty does

Long, long ago, I was visiting with some very politically-Liberal friends who began to criticize Ronald Reagan (then beginning his second term) and to look forward to how much better life would be once the U.S. electorate had dumped him ( Read more... )

I'd like to think that the whole support-for-electoral-fraud thing would kinda limit his ability to run a presidential campaign...

...then I remember that W. seems to have managed pretty well.

Goodness, I hope not! This whole president-with-bad-grammar thing is wreaking havoc on our country, especially since we're considered the "flagship" country of the language that half of the world learns. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me to see a busload of Japanese primary schoolers pull up to the White House to correct him on his use of improper contractions.

In fact, it would rather entertain me.

- "could give a GODDAMN who did what"

Not "who did what" but "who is going to do what to whom."

It's of greater interest when you keep in mind that YOU (and I) are included on the list of people who are going to be "done".

I think we worry about the right things, just in the wrong order.

The Presidency is his father's ambition for him... (you can tell whose the favourite son if you listen to interviews) fortunately, Jeb himself has said he never wants to run for President. Personally, I hope he still thinks that two years from now ( ... )

theonides, I get the impression that you took my comments as somehow hostile to you -- I had no intention of the sort.

--> "Jeb himself has said he never wants to run for President."

Apparently he said in 2004 that he wasn't interested. I think that this is meaningless. He could even have been completely open and sincere, and still change his mind before the election season -- 1318 days is a long time.

--> "you're talking about my tagline from yesterday"

I've seen this countdown mentioned a number of times in the past month. Don't know offhand if it was you every time. :-) I'm sure there are a lot of of people keeping this issue in mind.

--> "I have to believe that America will come back to her senses."

IMHO it's way difficult to know. Things are so much more extreme now than anyone thought possible even ten years ago (and with new outrages every month) that it's hard to predict ( ... )

sorry if it sounded like I took offense... I was feeling a bit beseiged since last night. I really should know better than to talk to anyone when I'm in that mood. I really wasn't that pissed off. And it wasn't me every time. I only started keeping track myself because I knew a couple other people who were ( ... )

I don't feel that the right is any more right nor the left any more left than either side has always been. It's just that we have a broader base now for mass communications and more people are tuning in to what is reported (by each side) to be going on. It just SEEMS more intense now....and I don't think Jeb will be running for president. Please. Tell me he won't. Please?

Jeb Bush is scary because of his name, but have you heard of some of the other guys that might run?
Oh, and by the way, the Republicans are out-fund-raising the Democrats for 2006 by about 2:1. So the key words here are "get used to it".

I would be very interested in hearing about this!

Bill Frist maybe? Rick Santorum? I don't think either (especially the latter) has officially said they're going to run, but you know how these people are.
