The Gentleman Caller

Here’s a post-Bombshells fic about House’s biological father coming to visit him. No Dominika in this one because she RUINS EVERYTHING. I think 2-parts should do the trick here. Hope you enjoy! - atd

Cuddy was on her way to her office when she saw a tall elderly man-tall and distinguished looking-wandering the halls looking a bit lost.

Nice! I'm liking it.

I really think the show threw away so much potential with the father storyline - whole other worlds of potential.

What I wouldn't have given to have a sibling of House's turn up - for treatment, perhaps - with neither of them knowing, but House discovering it somehow.

I really think that having a bit more of an anchor in this world would have changed so much for House, even if he'd have fought it tooth-and-nail, at least visibly. He was so secretly curious, even if he hated himself for that curiosity.

Thank you. And I actively worry about John Goodman's health.

I *really* like your vision of who House's father might turn out to be. (I think that Billy Conolly is a great actor...but the father-figure presented by TPTB in Season 8 was really not at all compelling). And the notion that both Cuddy and House were initially disturbed because they couldn't quite place who this elegant gentleman was...well, that was just so very, very clever ( ... )

Wow. This is a theme I wished they had dealt with seriously in s7 (and not that throwaway slapstick stuff with Billy Connolly).

And it's a tribute to your genius as a writer that in a packed food court at lunch time with the din of hundreds of people milling about and gabbing, I sat, rapt, reading this and did not hear anything until near the end when I suddenly wondered what time it was (and that maybe I should be getting back to work)!

Love the self-tortured House lashing out at someone who might provide the comfort he needs post-breakup. And thankfully, Cuddy still shows concern for him.

I love the backstory of his father, and the details down to the title of the books he wrote.

Can't wait for part two.

Interesting plot here. I wonder, how this gentleman will help build a bridge towards a #Huddy reconciliation. :)
