More stuff is occurring to me as I think about the book more/reread parts. I guess I'll just put it all in this entry post to
3hallows.
QUESTION: Did Dobby knowingly sacrifice himself for Harry? When I was reading the book I interpreted it as an accident, but then somebody mentioned it in a review as a deliberate act. Rereading the passage doesn't really clarify much, although I hadn't caught this part the first time round: "[Harry] caught one last view of the drawing room: ... a blur of flying silver, as Bellatrix's knife flew across the room at the place where he was vanishing-" (475).
UPDATE: My dad and I were wondering who exactly the moaning baby was in the place where Harry was talking to Dumbledore. Obviously, it was either the piece of Voldemort in Harry or Voldemort himself. Anyways, page 725 says, "Something had happened when he had hit Harry with the Killing Curse. Had Voldemort too collapsed? It seemed like it. And both of them had fallen briefly unconscious and both of the had now returned..." Based on that, it sounds like it definitely was Voldemort himself and that the two of them had gone to the King's Cross-ish place and returned to the Forbidden Forest at the same time. Maybe that was obvious to everyone else. :P
