I like Miller cylindrical.

Don't even get me started on those punk-ass sinusoidal projections.

If it wasn't for what it does to Greenland, I'd have no problem with the Miller.

*shakes head* You are SUCH a geek-boy! Just use a freakin' globe - you know - like the one I bought you for Christmas.

I really like the Fuller projection, but it's just so darned impractical.

I'm partial to Robinson projection because I used to work for Rand McNally. They commissioned the project.

Interesting. What did you used to do for Rand McNally? What was it like to work there?

I did customer service for the map & atlas division, sales for the Transportation Data Management (software trucking companies use to predict/log miles for billing and reporting), and sales for New Media (consumer software).

It was cool place to work. Very historic, very old school. The McNally's owned it when I worked there and they were nice folks. The bosses still went by Mr McNally, Mr Feinberg, etc. The stories about traveling the world and measuring it along the way, were very cool. The cartogrophers were like moles. The huge room they worked in never had any light and they very rarely came out of their area.

The best thing about the place were the employee sales. Basiclly a room full of discontinued or damaged items on sale for pennies. I had so many atlases, maps, histograms, globes. They were all damaged in a flood at my old house. Sad.

I still have friends there and culture is different due to the buyout. I'm glad I experienced it when the culture was still old school.
