Really long megadream about going to Canada. Dirk Benedict worked in a border grocery store, and we wondered about the availability of pasteurized milk. I used Visio to plan the trip with timelines. And there was something about psychics and the means to control them.

I thought that growing up in rural Iowa would have prepared me for living in Carnation, WA (pop. 1,893), but no. The Twin Peaks moments have been increasingly frequent lately. A single trip to the gas station tonight introduced me to:

Tonight I made an irrational gambling decision: I put money on the Mariners against the Red Sox. To my surprise I stopped in the sports book and found the M's up by five. And then the Sox evened it. I discovered today that when you call the American Express automated help line, the "we are processing your request" sound evokes the stylized bleeps and bloops of computers in movies from the '60s, and I think that's cool.
