K/S poetry! Because nothing pulls my heartstrings more than pining TOS Kirk :( ... :) Title: The Whisper of a Long Forgotten Dream Warnings: major character death Summary: Sometimes, Kirk dreams of him ( Behind a cut cuz it's hella angst )
It tears me apart but you did create a very captivating atmospeher and I like the cryptic semantic. And of course I like the three word phrase that is so meaningful to both of them!
But I need to understand more and I'm sorry I have to ask (maybe 'cause I'm not a Natvie English): What does the end mean? So Jim once said "let me halp you" - once, not right here in this scene - and then he is saing "you cannot" to Spock here and now? And meaning Spock can't love or Spock simply can't help?
I hope you're not upset with me asking - but I really like to get it 'cause I like it.
I can completely understand about the ending; when I write poetry I tend to make it a little hard to understand. The poem is cut into two parts. The beginning is where he has a dream about dying and Spock helps him, and the end is a memory about them. And the thing about poetry is that you can interpret it however you want. Originally I intended it to be Jim remembering a time when he had asked Spock to "let me help," and then Spock's answer was "You cannot."
However, the way you interpreted it works really well too! It gives Jim another layer of complexity, acknowledging that his dream is actually his subconscious asking for help from Spock and sort of accepting that Spock can't help him now.
You've given me so much to think about in my own poem! Thank you for the comment! :)

It's what I like about poetry too - that it can reach so many hearts and thoughts and each time it'll be as individual and special.
And wow, I'm glad I could give another perspective. I like the poem in any way, althought it's freaking sad, and I thank you for sharing!
