Baby was born today.

9:24am
3 lb 4 oz
15.5 inches long

He looks so much better than Avi did when she was born.  Skin looks normal, not translucent.  He looks healthy, but very small.

I got to hold him and take him over to Amber while she was on the OR table.  It was awesome.

Balls of Fury

Ping pong/martial arts movie.  Amber and I watched this last night.  I laughed a number of times, more than she did.  It has Christopher Walken in it, so you know it's not all bad.  Of course, all the ping pong is fake.

It's been awhile since I've watched these movies.  I was again struck by how beautiful everything in it was.  The sets, locations, lighting, fight sequences.  It did not seem like I spent 4 hours watching it.

Slan by A.E. van Vogt

One of the great classics of science fiction.  I've read this book a number of times and each time it gets better.  Sure it's kind of dated, but not near as much as a lot of scifi written in that era.  The level of technology is not that advanced for it being more than 1000 years in the future, but that can be ( Read more... )

One of the better 'Known Space' stories that Niven has written.  I'm sure this is due entirely to the fact that he teamed up with another author.  This time he teamed up with Edward M. Lerner.  I've never read anything by him, but I loved the influence he had on Niven's writing style.
