I saw some good movies I'd missed with Nick--The Fighter and Half Nelson and my last Netflix DVD, June Bug with Henry who liked it's ambivalence. We saw Tabloid in a theater, he wished we'd seen The Guard or the one with the talking cat, but I like to support Errol Morris. He and I are almost at the end of high school with Buffy. I'm loud, I wish I felt permission to be myself
Netflix recommendation for me has had me more glued than normal to the TV. The rug in front of it is more clean now than it's been in a long time. (I should still probably replace it soon.)

The high point of my celebration of our independence was sitting on a balcony looking out at the sliver moon and bursts of fireworks, drinking french wine and gin and tonics, and introducing this cover to someone whose cat is named Gin and Juice.

Wild Old Times
This week I saw two old-timey movies and listened to Fleet Foxes and the Decemberists. Lots of simple stark hairy sincerity. The pioneer style is strong here in the Northwest.
The first film was How the Fire Fell, a local diy project. I think that Anne Adams went way overboard to compare it to Tarkovsky. But she sure looks great in this ( Read more... ) -
Post Eclipse Full Moon
The other night this guy told me that I was the most beautiful girl here. "Just in this room?" I asked. There were two other women sitting around in an enclosed space within a huge event.
It reminded me of another guy who'd said something about how easy I am to manipulate by positive comments about my appearance ( Read more... )
