Mystearica had not expected to be invited to a dinner date in the Emperor's chambers personally. Having met with the Emperor Peony in her own world, she knew that he had an...unusual personality, but he was never quite so familiar with her. That's why when she was eventually told to go to His Majesty's chambers for dinner, she was confused but compliant, and when she found that in his room there was a table set for two, candles lit around a cozy small space as suave music played around them, she went flustered.
So the white-robed young woman stood there in the doorway, nearly jumping a mile when the door was discreetly shut behind her, looking like she was a small woodland creature that had gone for an inconspicuous piece of fruit in the center of of some casually strewn leaves, and now she was hanging upside down with fruit well out of reach.
"E-er, Your Majesty," Tear stammered, attempting to rally herself up and not assume the worst. "I-isn't this kind of environment...please forgive me for saying this, but...a little
Peony turned around, as she entered, grinning widely. She looked adorably disconcerted, but he had anticipated her unease and he was dressed normally, playing with a rappig on the sofa when she entered. Luke tossed his head restlessly as the emperor stood and surveyed the setting, hands bracing on his hips.
"Oh, I don't think so," he said casually. "Tear is one of my good friends in this world, and I just wanted a chance to talk to you alone about your world. That's hardly unprofessional, is it?"
.......well that rappig WAS adorable. ._. The Fon Master hesitated at Peony's explanation, not really sure if he was putting her on or not, but in the end she decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.
"Well... all right," she said awkwardly, standing on the spot uncertainly, not sure whether to join Peony at the couch or sit at the candlelit table. She decided to join him on the couch for now, and tucked her robes beneath her as she glanced over at the Emperor and his rappig.
"I see some things never change even across worlds, Your Majesty," Tear said politely, smiling a bit in spite herself as she hesitantly reached out to stroke the rappig's ear. "I don't recognize this one, however."
Peony smiled at her as she took a seat, appreciating her temporary decision to set aside the suspicion. "Well, if anything doesn't change, I imagine it would be this one," he said cheerfully. The spoiled rappig made an inquisitive sound and craned its head a little towards her. "How flattering, that you know all my rappigs by name. I think Jade wishes every day that he could be struck by selective amnesia and forget them. Jealousy, I imagine."
Disarming cute-thing-related conversation was a go. He tilted his head at her a little, still smiling, and added, "This one is Luke, of course! See the little red patch of fur between his ears?"
