Books read April
Kite Runner - had trouble getting into this one because I disliked the main character SO much. Turns out that left more room for redemption in act 3. Very well written, authentic, heart-wrenching at times.

Books read March
Spiderwick Chronicles - This should count as 5 books, right? Except that each one is about 5X8, about 100 pages, and full of illustrations. Read these to David on the recommendation of a friend who has a son about the same age. Ideas for hand strength/fine motor skills
Listing these out here so I won't forget them and can practice them with David over spring break/summer. His Pre-K teacher said he could use more work in this area (as could many 4-5 year olds) to improve his handwriting ( Read more... ) -
Books read for February
6. The Light Between Oceans - read this for a book review, and otherwise would probably not have picked it up. I think my over-developed sense of injustice prevented me from ever getting to really like the main characters, and I couldn't decide how I wanted it to end. Updated craft list
1. I am getting better at the small alligator clips - lining them is easy, finding things to put on top not always as much, but this is a fun, easy craft I can do a few sets of at night and feel accomplished. Books read January
Gone Girl - one of last year's best sellers, kept reading about it in magazines and seeing friends post about it on Facebook. WOW, that was one of those books that made you keep thinking about it after you were done reading, and with a nagging feeling about the ending. Really well done.

1. Take care of self - this mostly means losing the rest of the weight between here and goal weight, but I Know it will be a more difficult time than the first 40 pounds. I would like to loose another 17-19 pounds, and my goal is by Corey's birthday, so 26 weeks. This is doable if I PLAN! I also need to find a regular physician as the doc in the ( Read more... ) -
Last day of 2012
If I had to choose a word to describe today, it would be contentment. It FINALLY felt like a 'real' day of winter break - just me and the kids having a pajama day. I was able to do just about everything for myself, although David helped get Sara out of bed a couple times, and she has figured out how to scoot down the stairs instead of me carrying ( Read more... )
