Oh, that icon. HE'S SMILING AT ME LIKE "OH, HAI, DON'T MIND ME. I'M JUST STANDING HERE BEING AWESOME AND ADORABLE! OH, YOU'RE FANGIRLING? YEAH, YA MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO THAT."

AND I SWEAR HE'S DOING IT ON PURPOSE.

(I need confirmation that he shows up in Thor 2. There is no way I'll be able to wait until 2015 to see him as Hawkeye again.)

This is quite true. I happen to find Chris Hemsworth to be genuinely hot (and I find very few people that kind of attractive, mostly I just find people to be very levels of aesthetically pleasing) and even during Thor I was still thinking that the stars in the background of Asgard might still actually be prettier.

Also, I wanted to be an astrophysicist since I was 10 years old, so when it passed the Bechdel test in the first scene I was like "oh awesome! I like this movie already!" and then whenever Natalie Portman's character talked about physics in a realistic way (not just using physics terms right but stuff like "He's been through a wormhole so I don't care how crazy he is I MUST TALK TO HIM") I was just so happy.

Poor Chris Hemsworth. He's so pretty and yet he loses still loses out to the stars in the background behind him! That said, the amount of work that went into making everything about Asgard so enthralling just absolutely floors me.

Natalie Portman's character talked about physics in a realistic way (not just using physics terms right but stuff like "He's been through a wormhole so I don't care how crazy he is I MUST TALK TO HIM")
You know, that was another thing I'm realizing I loved, because it's not just that Jane wanted to go find the hunky guy again, she wanted to find the guy who went through a wormhole. And they engaged each other on a intellectual and not just physical level. I could understand why the characters liked each other.

More than that, Jane's the one who is in charge. I mean, Erik's her mentor, but Darcy works for Jane, it's Jane's research that is missing, and it's Jane who yells at S.H.I.E.L.D. for taking it away. Erik offers advice, but Jane makes her own decisions ( ... )

Yeah, to be fair, those are really really really damn pretty stars.

And the other thing is that the closer you look at the movie, the more little amazing details you realize. Two more of my favorites are:
-If you look closely or freeze-frame the scene when Odin rides into Jotunheim to retrieve Thor and Loki and their friends, his horse has eight legs. (Sleipnir does exist in the Marvel comics, too)
-Natalie Portman was far enough along to be showing while she was filming, and they hid it completely. No editing out a baby bump in post-production, just good costuming and careful framing of the shots.

And I'm really looking forward to Thor 2 because it seems that we get to see more of Sif in it. One of my headcanons is that when Thor eventually takes his friends to earth, Sif and Natasha become BFF's and they make an unstoppable pair.

Wow. I had no clue Portman was pregnant. That's impressive.

And you're right about all the little details. It's like they jam packed so much trivia into this movie it would take forever to list it all. I'm told you can see the Infinity Gauntlet in Odin's treasure room, but I haven't had the chance to look for it yet.

My favorite moment that I didn't catch until my second viewing was when they're back in the car after looking for Thor at the hospital and Jane says they're still going to find him, Darcy checks her taser, which, arguably, gets more obvious every time I watch the film. Still, props to Kat Dennings for being so nonchalant about it.

I can totally see Sif and Natasha becoming fast friends. Sif would be impressed that Natasha tricked Loki, and ask Natasha to tell her all about their "glorious battle with the Chitauri". I'm not entirely sure what Natasha would do, but it would likely be hysterical.

I LOVE THOR. I don't know much about the comics, to be fair, but I just cannot help but love this movie for what it is. There were more women in it than any other movie to date in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and all three had parts to play with the plot. I loved that Loki was sympathetic but you could still tell he's reacting really, really badly to everything that's happening. The scenery was positively fantastic, and SO MANY PRETTY STARS.

I could list what I know about the comics in less than five seconds, and I adore this movie to bits.

I blame half of it on the women being various shades of awesome. (Darcy tasers gods, Jane is brilliant, Sif is a warrior princess, etc. Even Queen Frigga gets a chance to be awesome.)

And the other half? I blame it on the lovely, lovely stars. :)
