This is probably going to anger people.  But why the hell do the Irish get their own holiday?  I am Irish, like a quarter.  Sure Saint Patrick drove the snakes off of the old Emerald Isle.  But what did he do in America to make him so great here?  Sure the Irish built America, but so did the Germans, Italians, French, Dutch, British, Polish...the ( Read more... )

everyone uses st patricks day as an excuse to get tanked...especially people who arent even irish. i dont really understand it, and im irish. oh well. saturday is st. josephs day, a sort of polish holiday so you can bet that ill be sporting my red and white cuz im a proud polack.

BTW, *I* would never rant about something without doing extensive research to make sure my argument was as waterproof as possible. Regardless of how serious I was.

But then, I do have some concern about being right when I bother to rant, so I guess thats the difference between us.

Rhode Island is the only state to still celebrate it as a state holidy. They call it Victory Day, the 2nd Monday in August.
