I have survived my first week as an official student teacher in the life skills room at Walnut Grove Elementary. I have ten kiddos in my classroom ranging from 1st grade to 5th grade. I'm already in love with each and every one of them. So far I've only taken over a few of the group lessons during the day. Although, I have worked one on one

I figure that when we fail to call a spade a spade, the impact of the reality is lessened. "cognitively challenged" simply does not get across how much the disability impairs the person, and so forth. Now, throwing out euphemism just to be rude is dumb, but when used legitimately, what sounds harsher is often the better terminology.
