About a month ago, Pete and I went to go see a play. The whole following week I couldn't stop thinking about it. So far since I've been in this Starbucks, they've played "Legal Tender" by the B-52's, "Book of Love" (by Book of Love, not the Magnetic Fields, which would also be cool but a little less unexpected), and now "Nothing but Flowers" by the Talking Heads. How did they get ahold of the soundtrack to my life?

I've been casting around lately for ways to wish people strength and courage in their challenging endeavors, that are neither overly dramatic (i.e. hang in there! stay strong!) colloquial (keep on truckin'!) or dependent on certain kinds of cultural knowledge or belief (good luck and godspeed! may the force be with you!). I have such a huge smile on my face right now!

1. I seem to be way better at - or perhaps more deeply committed to - allowing others to be who they are than I am at/to allowing myself to be who I am.
