Reading

Looking for cool and exciting things to do over the bank holiday weekend.

How does Reading work these days? Does it get horrendously sold out like Glastonbury or can people just go for the day as such?

Eeep 9.30! time to go to work...

I have a friend going to Reading (which is handy... I get to stay at his house in London while I attend FrightFest) and I imagine it's probably sold out. Of course... don't know that for sure :p If you feel like splashing out a hundred quid then you could probably still get a weekend pass to FrightFest though ;p

When I went last year, they had sold out on weekend passes, but you could still turn up on the day and have a day entry ticket. In fact, they also decided to make a few more weekend passes available, but they didn't advertise the fact.

(I actually found an intact weekend ticket on the ground, which I managed to sell on to a very grateful cute young lass for half the face value, which was also a quarter of what the touts were selling them at *grin*)

A day is all I need.

Wanna have my fix of heavy metal. Yeah!

They sold out of tickets months ago, but like ev1ldonut said, in previous years they still had some for sale in the official caravan things outside the main entrance. Don't be tempted by the touts at the railway station and on the way in who will tell you there are no tickets left and they have one left at 130 quid and you won't find one cheaper. They try this on every year. They can buy a few at 75 quid each at the caravan, then sell them for 130 to gullible people at the station

I wouldn't count on there being any weekend passes left unless you get there on the Thursday, they sold out much earlier this year than normal because noone could get Glastonbury tickets and therefore there is a much higher demand

Do you know anyone in Reading who could grab you a ticket on the Thursday?

I'm still thinking about going again this year, but I'm also tempted to check out Notting Hill carnival as I've always missed that in the past due to Reading

I'm thinking of going on friday or sunday. According to ticketmaster these days haven't sold out yet.

Yeah, if you just want a day ticket it might be easier, although camping is half the fun :)

Is there nothing exciting happening in Bristol? Or is that dull because you've been there/done it before?

Well I hoped my post would be a way to find out.

There's a cool 'alternative' weekend in Stroud I'm looking at for early Sept, with yoga workshops and stuff. kind of hippie/chill out zone.

The bank holiday w/e will start off with a girly day with meiliung on thursday. After this, I may go camping, unless there's something else on offer?

How does Reading work these days?! Same as ever I think, move eyes along lines of black squiggles, let brain translate into words ;)

once again my dry and yet subtley sophisticated sense of humour falls on deaf ears. I was merely making a pun, or play on words, on Reading and reading. One being a place noone visits except when on their way to or from london to the southwest, the other being what you're doing right now to this drivel ;)
