I am slow, like Plep.

Damn, that was a LONGASS 8.05 midterm. I need to learn how to do speedy physics, such that I can do an 8.05 set in ~2 hours, so that when a pset's worth of problems masquerade as an exam, I can finish it. Except I'm not hella speedy AT ALL. Hmph ( Read more... )

1. How can a class be so amazingly painful and yet so totally awesome?
Lack of pain and awesomeness do not commute with each other.

2. Do slow people get into grad school?
I am not a statistical fluke.

1. So if I ever find out just how awesome it is, there will be pain EVERYWHERE?

2. You're a systematic fluke?

yeah, i found the 8.07 midterm to be oddly long too. though i blame that mostly on a highly unuseful equation sheet (admittedly, i wasn't sure there would *be* an eqn sheet, and planned to fail, therefore.)

When I took 8.05, the midterm was stupidly long as well. Bimodal grade distributions are generally un-good things, but he wound up giving everyone 15 extra points so the median was where he wanted it (i.e., he realized the midterm was too long).

And, yes, "slow" people can get into grad school. As can ones with horrid GPAs, as long as it is a grad school that cares more about potential as a scientist than ability to perform on tests and problem sets.
