Just spent Christmas vacation with my family and my fiancee. She was in pain for a couple of months, but felt enough better to go with me on a five day family bonanza. I'd say it went well, which is good all around.
Now to finish cleaning the apartment, getting a professorship, publishing some papers, getting some experimental work done...

Date #2 went pretty well. We watched a terrible movie, The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, and then a goofy Mel Brooks, To Be Or Not To Be. (It's hard to do a comedy set in Nazi-occupied Poland, but he pulled it off.) And enjoyed each other's company. I tend to suspect I move slowly in these things, but she doesn't seem to mind too much.

It's recently been pointed out to me that I've been failing to post anything. Having a little down time in my office, I figure I can fix that ( Read more... )

It's been months since I moved to Boston. I have to say, I'm enjoying it... there's a lot to do, and much of it makes me very, very thankful to be back here. Biking in snow and rain may not be a brilliant idea, but I've done it repeatedly now, just because of the novelty of being able to bike to and from work.
