I'M BACK!!!

Wow, it’s been a long time…this is my first post this year!  Ridiculous, that’s what it is.  Anyhow, first things first.  I just moved into my new home this afternoon!  I’m living in a university-owned apartment (meaning I get all the benefits of apartment-living AND I don’t have to negotiate rent and stuff with a sketchy Egyptian landlord).  I ( Read more... )

Dude!!!! Where have you been all my life??!?!??! I'm practically brain dead from too much foreign policy reading, but I have several things of importance: 1) dear lord, my new demented egyptian camel is the most sketchy and suspicioud thing in the history of things. For serious. Only one of it's eyes lights up, and it lights up red! I had to take the batteries out of it, because it kept turning itself on and singing at innapropriate times (like when I'm trying to shove my carryon luggage under the seat in front of me on the plane....). It really is the most mumtaz of gifts. And speaking of mumtaz, the accompanying card was ridiculous, to say the least. I'm pretty proud that I managed to at least grasp an idea of most of what you were saying...a little pathetic, yes, but I'm proud nonetheless. 2) So, barring accident or denial of application, I'm pretty much planning on going to Egypt in the fall! Whooo! 3) I miss you a whole lot! 4) There is a girl in my Arabic class who I think is a spy. No I am not being too ( ... )

You got the ugly camel! Hooray! I knew you two would be a perfect match. You should name him something ridiculous. I didn't even know its eyes lit up at first, but then the sketchy market vendor had his lackey put some batteries in it and the eyes started flashing and it started singing. And then I tried to tell him that maybe I wanted one that didn't sing, but he didn't understand, so I just bought that one, heh. Yay, you're going to Egypt!!! That makes me happy. Year or semester? And a spy in your Arabic class? Necesito details! Dios mio! Pictures are up on Facebook. Hehehe. In 2 weeks or so, I too will be buried in poli sci reading. And papers. Argh. Anyhow, there is absolutely no food in our apartment right now, so I must take to the streets and scavenge. Hasta your mom!

Hehehe...well, it's not like we didn't also do all the important stuff. Most of it, anyway. We just saw movies at night when the only alternative would have been clubbing or something. And you were right--Athens was quite amazing! I want to go back.
