So this has got to be a remake of the excellent 1998 French film The Dinner Game, right?

Not. Necessary.

Unless you're majorly subtitle-averse (and the only legitimate excuse for that, in my mind, is if you have difficulty reading, period), there is nothing-nothing-nothing about the original that is inaccessible ... or even particularly ( Read more... )

You can mention Matthias's name if it helps you get in the door :) He works for REM and they seem to love him!

I guess I'd rather they remake this with decent people (I like Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd - sue me) than see anymore live-action versions of mediocre cartoons. Yogi Bear, Chipmunks and Scooby-Doo, I'm lookin' at you.

Also, and I'm really not trying to be a bitch, but the only excuse someone has for not liking subtitles is an inability to read?! Really? Some days my mind wants to just unplug. I'll be sure and tell my mom she should get some assistance with her illiteracy, though, because she hates subtitles.

I'm pulling for Team Amanda here. She didn't say that it's the only excuse...just the only legitimate excuse.

When did reading words become taxing? Because I don't understand how/why subtitles and reading preclude "unplugging."

There are plenty of horrific (but best-selling!) books whose readership relies almost exclusively on people who insist that they like to enjoy a "fluffy, mindless read" that prove quite the opposite, actually. Janet Evanovich sells millions, after all.

whoa- calm down. Amanda was saying the original is good- and they don't need to remake it- that's really all. Especially since it is so new itsself. ...heck, if you don't want to read it, put on the dubbed version! And plus, the only comment she made about subtitles was that it's a LEGITIMATE reasont to not watch movies with them if a person has difficulty reading.
