Your Grandma sounds a lot like my late one who I also miss immensely. She too raised her children on her own and could connect with everyobody, keeping the family together like a mother hen. She was incredibly cheerful and wise, albait hot tempered. She never really grew old at heart and always had a candy for me when I was a child and a compliment when I grew up. She taught me to crochet (which I then forgot...), she made pancakes like no others, her favourite food was ice cream. She too loved telling stories about her family past, about the greatgranduncle who lost the whole family property to gambling. Her mother, my greatgrandmother was a similar strong figure that my mom looked up to, I don't think either of us inherited that though. What I did inherit is pathological lateness and her hands. I have exactly the same hands which freaks me out at times.
I'll have some chocolate in your Grandma's honour.

Heh. EXACTLY. I don't know, I guess leaving such an incredibly hard life didn't leave people much time for neurosis like mine. lol.
I already had pistacchio ice cream. We really switched roles when I was older, she was like a kid, I couldn't wait to buy her ice cream or bring her some fancy big city candy when I went to visit.

That's because I miss her every day. She's the only human being (aside from friends, but that's somehow... different) for whom I've never had to compartimentalize my feelings and love her DESPITE something or other. I miss that.
