Hm. Another countryman? I am Sir Integral Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing from the year 2030. Charmed, I am sure.

Corsets were a politely accepted mean of torture, women nowadays are aware how bloody cumbersome they are.

American cigarettes? My sincerest condolences. I know of a shop in the Square that provides fine Cuban cigars to me, as improvement.

A pleasure, Sir Hellsing. I am very glad to hear our great country lasts so long as all that.

But fashion of course has almost nothing to do with comfort. I certainly don't mind women wearing practical trousers and so forth, but they can't really expect themselves to be as attractive as a properly dressed woman.

Cigars aren't usually my first choice, but I will have to make a visit and see if they can find me some proper Turkish tobacco rather than this counterfeit stuff.

England would never fall or fail as long as I can help it.

Not every woman has in mind to become the object of aesthetic visual pleasure of others when they dress.

You could try to make your order. I am unaware of how vast their actual supplies are.

Micro-mini? That sounds absolutely horrific, you must show me some time.

I am very firm in my beliefs about fashion, I should hope one little temptation would not stray me from the path of true belief.

We don't all go running around in trousers and whatnot, thank you. But if it's a tailor you're looking for, you might also try asking after "fashion designers", since that seems to be a more modern name for them around here.

My, London certainly seems to be a popular place to come from, doesn't it?

That is excellent to hear. Fashion designers, indeed. Simply finding a well-fitting suit seems to be an enormous challenge for such a seemingly advanced society.

Oh, believe me, I sympathize; I ruined my best dress when I first arrived here, falling in the fountain, and had to have a very nice fashion designer replace it for me. I'd recommend her to you, but I'm afraid she's been gone a long time now.

I'm afraid it has been much the same for me, I am surviving with what little I can scrabble together and have had what I arrived in cleaned and pressed, but one cannot wear the same suit every day forever. I feel quite naked and unfit for company.

An inspiring entry for us all, Mr. Raffles.

However - should the fact that I am lately from an England in the year 1812 ever dull as a source of amusement, or have I truly gone mad as I have presumed? Perish the thought.

I am glad you agree, Miss Bennet.

Goodness, a year of wars. I find it difficult to believe such a sensible lady as yourself could permit herself to go mad.

And one of countless soldiers, indeed. One must never take themselves too seriously, sir. Then I assure you the worst and proclaim you too serious for even the truly mad.

In that case, if you ever find me dangerously close to taking myself too seriously I leave it entirely in your hands to correct me.

I would but I should warn you that you might regret asking.
