Actually - I appreciated reading about Japanese education and comparing it to what we came from. I am really surprised that employers feel that graduates seem unprepared and lazy - I always believed the stereotype that the Japanese had education and success down to a science.

And ... you sitting next to an angelic singing commode on a 747 back to the states is hilarious imagery!

I think they do have education and success down to a science, they very successfully train their childern to be citizens in Japan. However by their own admission, Higher Education itself is in serious crisis.

And I'm glad you enjoyed the mental image. I wonder if the flight attendants would allow the toilet beverage services :)

I too enjoyed reading about the educational system - it's a fascinating concept, and it seems to work well for them. But I have to wonder about the long-term affects on one of those nails that gets hammered down.

Congratulations on being the best Japanese speaker of your group and on finding love with a toilet seat. ;-) (Seriously, I loved the bit about the toilets so much I showed co-workers)
