It turns out that not only am I not the only one tracking the abominable changes to The Dark Is Rising movie, but I am not even close to the
most thorough. Warning: this list of changes from book to movie will crush all the hope you had left in your heart and leave you a ready, nay, a willing receptacle for the Dark.

How has this gone unlamented?

...but the substantiated changes are so awful, we can't tell whether it's a joke.

So... before the mind-numbing stupidity of the quotes section drove me away, here's what I gleaned:
1. It's more important to make characters relatable to spoiled American kids than to provide them with positive role-models.
2. Violence/brute force > intelligence, kindness, and obedience.
3. Artistic integrity doesn't matter if the source material isn't as popular as LOTR or Harry Potter with millions of slavering fans.
4. The entire country of Great Britain can just kiss Hollywood's @$$.
The thing that angered me most was the admissions that most of the people involved haven't read the books. Gosh. The the level of ignorant, willful stupidity here is just... ugh.
I'ma go try and distract myself from thinking about it.
