Elena's Birth Story
About three weeks ago, I went and got a Google phone. I like it, and it has helped me keep up with people the past week. It's kind of difficult to write out anything long, though, and this is only the second time I've been able to get to the computer. I wanted to write out Elena's birth story before I forgot too much of it.

Quarterback Playoffs!
I've been feeling like crap most of today, so what better time to embark on my Second Annual NFL Quarterback of Hotness Playoffs! Last year I ranked all 32 coaches from least to most hot, but in looking at all the pictures of the coaches, I couldn't be bothered. Least hot: Tom Cable, largely for personality reasons. Ben just left to go to his year-end poker event. Unfortunately the roads are covered with ice and many of them are closed. He's a careful driver (although of course not everyone on the road is) but I hate that he has to go out in this weather and I hate that we live so far away from his poker friends ( Read more... ) -

One of the reasons I started listening to NPR in the mornings was that whatever song was on first thing would inevitably get stuck in my head the whole day, and aside from the occasional interview with a Senegalese rapper or whatever, NPR doesn't usually play songs. After vacation, there was a quiet, post-vacation period and now I'm in a busy, post-post-vacation period. Mostly this seems to involve spending all of my moneys. No one thing I'm doing is that expensive, and I'm enjoying everything, but I think I need to be careful not to schedule quite so many fun and expensive things so close to each other ( Read more... ) -

We're back from our Shenandoah and Berkeley Springs trip. It was very relaxing. We spent Friday night through Sunday afternoon in and around the Shenandoah with Barb and George, then went up to Berkeley Springs for Sunday and Monday, and came back yesterday ( Read more... ) -

I just put up the owl wall decal I got for the nursery, and man is it cute. We're not keeping the mattress in the crib so as to minimize cat exposure, but I had to take it out of the box for picture purposes.

Ben and I are going to the Midwife Center in Pittsburgh on Tuesday for an introductory class thing. He's not 100% sold on the "outside the hospital" birth, and honestly I have some questions about it too, so we're both pretty interested to go to this class thing and see what they have to say.
