Vermont for 7 days. God, thank you for making a place where I don't have to hate myself for a little while. I want to like Sinclair Ross, but an entire book of short stories by him has only cemented the realization that all of his writing is the same. The first story was good, the second alright, but by the third and onward it's all repetition: farm life is hard, farm life is really hard, women aren't steadfast, horses are pretty, farm life is hard. Home is refreshing, even if the weather is complete crap. Finally finished one of the essays, but the second is due in two weeks so I can relax a little. Buildings don't really stand in for mountains, but they make me realize that I couldn't live without being surrounded by something. Sorry, great plains. I miss you already, Utah, Rockies.
