I for one, think it's great. First, it gives us all a well deserved break (I know we could all use it!) Also, it allows us to get a sholw bunch of people into the theater who may not know who we are and what we do (nothing brings out the masses like a family friendly holiday show.)
I love doing Wing-It shows, and try to participate as often as I can. Would I like to be in a Christmas show at the HUT? Heck yeah, I love that place!
Am I excited that other people are doing all the hard work and putting together a great project that will bring new people though the doors? Heck yeah, I love that place!
I'm looking forward to seeing it (and drinking a festive beer with my friends while I do!)
well...living with one of teh writers/performers, i can say, this show is gonna KICK ASS and i'm VERY excited for it!
Maybe this will help explain the frustration: What I've always loved about your way of thinking is that you're so open to anyone, anytime, doing whatever they want creatively. So to produce a show that doesn't hold auditions that are open to jet city members...or auditions at all...it's just different, and different takes some time getting used to. try not to take it personally, you're out there trying new things and bringing your ideas to life and THAT is SOOOOO COMMENDABLE!!!!!!
It has been hard trying to make what I feel was the best decision, and trying to make sure I didn't step on anyone as well. But I stepped in this one good.
And for the record - it was discussed at the last 1/4ly meeting. I had it on the KeyNote. If anyone had any questions, they could have asked me. But it seems like it is easier to assume than to ask. And you are right, for trained listeners, we don't talk much.
Dude, it's posts like these that kind of make me glad I'm frequently out of the loop, and the last person to hear about stuff. Yeesh!
I think Matt covered a lot of great points. All I can add is that the one member of the cast whom I know is excellent, and you also have an excellent director.
