Today, I did my civic duty and showed up for jury duty. My reporting time was 12.30. When I arrived at the courthouse, there was a line to get into the building, and then a line to check-in. Wow. What a difference light bulbs make. I replaced my crappy, free 60 watt bulbs and crappy, cheap IKEA energy-saving bulbs for decent wattage, energy-saving, but not cheap bulbs and now my apartment is warm and cheery. We had our winter potluck yesterday. I made a torta bianca from The Medieval Kitchen. It's a cross between a cheesecake and a custard made with cream cheese, butter, egg whites, milk, sugar, and ginger. Once it's done baking, the tart is sprinkled with rose water and sugar.
