I'm so happy for you! Congratulations. You will be a wonderful teacher.
I'm just starting to get to this stage of accepting various paths in life, come what may. The last job I applied for stuck me in a really strange spot, and it took me a while (and some prodding from my husband) to make the realization that this one thing didn't define me and there are a lot of other things that make me, me. Taking a different path doesn't make me wrong or bad, it just means taking a different path. It's really been nice, and I've been able to shed some of the shame and sadness I've been carrying around with me for the past couple of years.
Isn't that so hard? I have been incredibly grateful for the lessons of the last few years, too. I'm sure I'm a different person than I was three years ago, or five years ago, or when I started down the museum path. Those choices were appropriate at the time, but I don't have to keep trying to make them work for the person I am now. That thought really helps the negative voices in my head.
Taking a different path can be a wonderful, self-affirming choice. I'm glad Richard is there with you!
