I don't think I could ever exist without one or the other. One of my lifelong wishes is to have my own beach house so all I'd have to do is open my back door and I'm there!
This was a fantastic entry that made me smile since I have an adorable dog myself. I love how you captured the dog's personality without giving him too many human characteristics. I also thought it was cool how the theme of deconstruction was woven in to the story subtly, ending with you showing the dog all the places you went forming a five-point star on the map. Very well done!
I've always spoken to The Dog like that. I know he doesn't understand every single thing I say, but he understands enough to get the gist of what I'm saying. Your dog probably does the same. They're much smarter than we give them credit for!
What a fun piece! I've had similar journeys with a German Shepherd in the backseat, and I know how those one-sided conversations aren't ACTUALLY one-sided. :)
