The the Austrailian frog epidemic in Australia in the Simpsons episode Bart Vs. Australia is based in fact. There were outside frogs brought into Australia at some point in history and they started ransacking the land and eating pretty much everything. I don't think they were from America though and they would grow to be the size of dinner plates

I also heard that they made special "frog bypasses" to allow frogs to go under the roads so they weren't so slippery with frog guts (the roads). I just couldn't find a way to construct that sentence. Anyway, I think this may have been somewhere in the UK, not Australia. But I'm not sure.
