The path that once bended and led to my return to Athens now almost ten years ago is quickly shifting to a new destination.  By early next week, Josh and I should be settling into our new home on Bryden Road in Columbus and I will be preparing for the last official leg of my education.  Many of you have already made the great journey away from the ( Read more... )

So perhaps, yes. Perhaps the phantoms I call friends do as well reside alongside the bustle and business of the city. Perhaps the ancestors have even found their places amidst the steel and concrete jungles of urbana.

This is beautiful.

I can't wait to clean the old girl up!

i am so proud of you and so filled with joy. i think you can find holy places everywhere-some are just a bit more hidden-but perhaps that makes them all the more holy when you do find them.

i still, after 5 years away from athens and the surrounding areas, feel it call to me in a way that no other place has. there are times when i am driving that i feel an ache-like the rolling hills are trying to pull me back.

i honestly still believe, one day, we will all be back there together.

i will be thinking about you, josh, and athena this weekend :)

I often go through these same emotions. I think you and I had a very similar appreciation for the hills, the trees, the wind, the stillness, the very spirit of appalachian Ohio. I always feel this sense of being out of place. Southeastern Ohio calls to me in a way that no other place ever has, and I fear, ever will ( ... )
