A few notes on the festival... to date

So far I've seen five shows at the festival (it was meant to be six, but I didn't make it to one today, decided I couldn't deal with heart transplants). Liza Lim's The Navigator, Tim Crouch's an oak tree, Patti Smith and Philip Glass' Allen Ginsberg Tribute, The Shuffle Club at the Spiegeltent and Philip Glass and Leonard Cohen's Book of Longing. D'oh! I miss you, and I miss missing the festival. I wish I could be there, be seeing some of this stuff ("an oak tree" in particular sounds like something I would have to go to, and would either love or hate as a result) and then get to sit down with you sometime and talk about it.

Were you able to see Terrel or geldfuss's recent shows?

I couldn't make Paul's Four Sisters given the whole season completely clashed with killing game, and I couldn't get to Dorian Gray given I was at the festival... i know, shame on me!

To be honest, it looks as though Crouch is moving his work about the world to see - in my opinion - in just the same amount of experiment in which it was created, if his work will work in other contexts. I'm amazed at the bad backlash that an oak tree has received... but hey, that's theatre right?

Dorian's still on if you can make it. Until Sunday. *nudge*

Gah! There's a whole festival going on around me and I haven't been able to see it. Gaaah!

How'd the Killing Game run go?

do you have a matinee saturday? That's about the only time I can :(

Make a big go of it next week - there's a rather awesome looking version of R&J on next week which I kinda wanna see, but I dun think I'm gonna be able to fit it in :(

I always enjoy your reviews and find myself wishing I could be there and talk about the pieces! I miss my friend Margaret Senatore, who discovered subtleties in visual media that I'd not find in a million years. Fun, that!

Heh, it's like my mother used to get me to go see films or read books that she didn't get, expressly so I could explain them to her. There'll be more to come, I think I've got another 8 or so shows to see in the next week... I love the festival =)
