My Introduction to Podfic / 5 Comfort Podfic / 2 Spares (just in case)
Some real quick notes before we begin.
__The absolute best thing to happen to me in years was discovering the wonderful world of podfic/audiofic during the summer of 2007.
__Special thanks goes to general_jinjur who, when I was first starting out, answered a newbie's questions patiently and with a kindness not always found in strangers. You are awesome, hon, and don't you ever forget it!
__This is my first time 'officially' reccing anything, so forgive any and all rambling and believe me when I say that there are SO many more titles and readers that I could rec, it would take forever! Also, I tried REALLY hard not to pick all of one fandom/pairing/reader, but sometimes your favorites are your favorites and you can't help but love on 'em a bit. ;-D
__OK, I'm going to hit that all important button to post this thing. Then, I'm walking away from my computer... yeah, right. >.<
The very first podfic I heard was Tanlines & Dogtags and I'd downloaded it entirely by accident while lurking around icarusancalion's website. There was just... something about freemountin's voice that drew me in and didn't let me go until the very end of the story and while I'd enjoyed reading Tanlines, listening to it made it just that much better. This podfic will always hold a special place in my podfic collection.
Comfort Podfic
1. Man's Best Friend by belyste is one of the cutest stories ever written and the way juice817 (who is insanely brilliant!) reads it aloud? Pure magic. You can practically see Puppy!Jensen running around on his stubby little legs and cuddling Jared like he's the best thing since sliced bread... which, I guess, he is, LOL. When Puppy!Jensen meets Sadie and Harley, Harley says it best with, "Dog? Baby dog? Cat?" and dubbing him LittleDog!Jensen.
__This story isn't all cute and cuddles, there is some serious heat near the end, like woah! But it fits in with the rest of the story seamlessly, kind of like whipped cream with a cup of cocoa... or something o.O'
__When I hear "Man's Best Friend by Belyste, read by Juice817" I know that my day can only get better. This podfic is an instant happy!

2. Quarters by trinityofone is read by pandarus and if you aren't in stitches during the first 10 or so minutes of this podfic, well you might need a doctor. At times hilarious (Castiel and Ruby fighting like little children in the backseat of the Impala) and at other moments heart-wrenching (Ruby wanting Sam to want her), this podfic will not let you go until you've reached the end.

3. Trying to Communicate as read by Fangirl Productions. This podfic is gut-wrenchingly funny and I think that has a lot to do with the fact that you can hear these girls laughing at the story, the recording, and themselves all the while. It makes me smile every time I hear it and the dry way Ianto's "He dead of Torchwood" and the cat's reply "Dead of Torchwood! More great Lolz!" makes me laugh every time.
__What's especially funny is that I'm usually lucky enough to listen to this at work, so all of my co-workers are like "Stay away from the laughing lunatic" and are trying their best not to walk by my desk. LOL.
__In closing, "I wantz a Ianto tu" ;-P

4. Your Brains Are No Match For My Tractorbeam by Chash aka poor_choices and read by juice817. There just aren't the words to describe how I feel about this podfic. You have a geeky/cute Jensen on the one hand and on the other you have the giant Jared, sweet as can be. From the very first, I just want to cuddle Jensen, pet Jared, and possibly smack Chad, lol. This creation is an all around favorite, covering each and every thing I could possibly ever want in a podfic... Made of win!

5. I've Got Nothing To Do Today But Smile (The Only Living Boy in New York) by gyzym is as addictive as the coffee in the story. pennyplainknits is a star in this. As a caffeine addict myself, listening to Penny's voice going smooth and sultry as she describes the different drinks makes me want a 4 shot latte stat! Even though this is an AU story, I can't read Inception fic without hearing her Arthur and Eames.
__p.s. I just realized that Penny's posted another Inception podfic! I will be downloading as soon as I hit the 'post to amplificathon' button \o/

Strangely Enticing
The Untold Love Story of Inanimate Objects by cyndrarae. riverbella's reading is oddly hypnotic, her unhurried style of reading is perfect for the solemnity of this tale and her characterization of Jensen and Jared is spot on. As I was writing up the last few bits of my Recs, I've been listening to this podfic... Actually, I've been listening to it for the last few days in bits and pieces and every time I had to walk away from my computer, press pause on my iPod, or go to sleep, my mind was still stuck on this story... just ONE more minute!
Readings that Will Make You Cry
Out From Under by brigantine1 and read by luzula is one of my all-time favorite stories in the due South fandom. I had a hard time deciding if I wanted to rec this as an epic podfic or not... but, in the end, I had to go with 'readings that will make you cry.' While I didn't actually cry, my stomach was in knots and my eyes were burning throughout this wonderful podfic. As we follow Fraser as he in turn is following Ray, it felt as if luzula was trying to tear my heart out with a spoon; take a listen and tell me that you're left unaffected at the end, I dare you.
