I'm so glad you liked it! I wanted a way for Gibbs to make amends without using words - his actions mean so much more than any words would convey anyway. He can be a bastard, yes but he is so thoughtful and romantic in unconventional ways that make up for his lack of speech. And really - it means more because anyone can say the right thing - he goes out and DOES it. That's why I am enamored with his character.
For Gibbs it might have been only a piece of paper, but for Tony it was so much more. Happy that Gibbs realized it and that he made a plan to get that paperwork done!
Nobody likes paperwork but it is a necessary evil. :) Tried to figure out a way that he could surprise Tony but I remembered that both parties need to be present when applying for a marriage license. (Hey - it was almost 30 years ago that I did that!)
Reading these reminds me what a truly amazing writer you are. Always weaving, but clear...but weaving! I loved Gibbs' reflections, truly I did. He was right too. I bet he really got scared when he realized how much that must have hurt. And yet Tony as always, does everything he can to go with the flow. Then Gibbs fixes it!!!! I LOVED the butterflies! Last line perfect. "Paperwork" You're one of my favorite writers. :-)
