"So, people are allowed to be upset/angry/or whatever, and that's okay-I do it too, but instead of completely concentrating on what you don't have, concentrate on what you DO have and be grateful."
That's my favorite. I do that a lot. When I am down about certain things, I do think of my family and Irkum and the education I have.
having lived in china for 10 years myself, i must agree with you.
everyday, i am thankful that i am even here in this country, and am afraid to even think where i would be if i hadn't come. probably wouldn't even be in college.
i didn't know you hit a car amy. im sorry, that sucks. shit happens in that lot. glad to hear you're ok.
you're right about everything you said. i remember thinking some of the same stuff when we were in china. not everyone here in the U.S. is as lucky as us though, and they might be closer than you think. i saw a guy going through the trash in front of the giant in germantown a month or so back. but we are definitely very, very lucky.
I fell so inspired now. excuse me, I'm going to write a poem. it won't make any sense though. and then I'll make you and margie analyze the butt off of it! HAHA!
It's so easy to not be as grateful as we should be for what we do have. The way my friend Jennifer talks about some of the things she sees in China (she's teaching there for a year) makes me realize that, yeah, the whole world does NOT live like us, and we are overprivileged. :)
