2009 can only get better

My year got off to a rocky start, unfortunately. While we were out of town to celebrate New Year's Eve with my husband's family, our house was broken into. This is the first time we've ever been robbed and it was a frightening experience for all of us ( Read more... )

Oh, Amy! That's so terrible. :(

One year when I was a child, someone stole our Christmas presents out of the trunk while my parents were out shopping. People can be awful.

I'm glad that your laptop and cat are safe!

Sorry to hear that you had your gifts stolen. When we were at the pawn shop yesterday, a woman said that her kids' Christmas gifts were stolen from her car on a shopping day. I can't believe some people can be so cold and unfeeling.

Hi Amy,

I'm so sorry. It's such a violation of a family's feeling of safety and also, like you said, who would do such a thing? It sounds like you are reaping comfort from your family.

Take good care. I hope the rest of the year will triumph over this first part.

Hugs,
Stacey

Yes, it's a good thing we're physically okay. If they'd hurt or killed our cat, that probably would have been too much for my kids to handle.

Oh Amy! I'm sorry. That is horrifying. There have been a rash of post-Christmas burglaries around here where it's clear the burglars are targeting homes with children because they're looking for electronic gifts and I thought the same thing. There ought to be a special circle of Hell for people who think that way!

I know, I can't even fathom that some people think it's okay to target families with children. And the sad thing is, they'll probably never get caught.
