Mythical Simplicity (Chapter Two)

Chapter Two

He glanced around, half curious, half anxious. He had the impression that the TARDIS’ solution to any problem involving the Master would simply be to jettison whichever room he’s currently inhabiting. Of all the beings the Master hurt, the Doctor is alone in his forgiveness.

In the end, he was struck dumb by the suggestion his ship has ( Read more... )

I'm loving this fic so far. Very cool premise. Looking forward to the next chapter! :D

Thank you!

I'm glad you're enjoying the concept. I thought it might seem a bit trite or tired, or, well, a bit crap. It was just something I really wanted to write. I love the idea of the Chameleon Arch and the way it alters personality as well as biology.

The TARDIS is evil, and I adore her! *grins*
Loved John Smith feeling lonely, loved the Master going insane with boredom, loved the fic. Loved how fast you updated it, too!

You know, I haven't fully established in my mind the TARDIS' motivation for doing this. Could be entertainment value, could be fear of the Master ... or it could be, as you say, pure twisted evil.

Take your pick!

I'm really glad you're enjoying it. And I know, me, updating a fic this quickly? Usually it takes months to grind out the next chapter. Now for the real shocker: Chapter Three tomorrow!

:D

And here I was thinking she was being an evil, twisted matchmaker... but maybe she just likes to hear them scream :-P

Chapter Three tomorrow! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Yes, well ... that's more complicated, isn't it? You could write a whole massive fic about that!

Yes, tomorrow morning, I promise! Chapter 3 is my favourite. Of course, the whole thing's only six chapters long ... but ends with a major cliffhanger for the sequel, which I'm working on as fast as I can!

That is also a possible motivation for being such a troublemaker ... Seriously, going from time-travel capsule (very cool) to paradox machine (evil and twisted but not uncool) to prison ship? She must be bored rigid.

Not sure about the impending doom part ... well, eventually. But a lot less doom-laden stuff in the meantime. But the icon's still a good idea. I love all your icons. Sooner or later I must get around to making myself some new ones.

Also

I think the TARDIS is bored and playing dollies with her Time Lords

Well, wouldn't you?

As always the idea of the Doctor and the Master meeting on a completely different battleground is very appealing. I'm looking forward to the next part!

Yes, that's one of the things that appeals to me. I was trying to take away all their combined history, and see what happens. Also, I'm fascinated by all the differences in personality that seem to go with the transformation.

Thanks for the lovely comments. More in the morning!

Lots of both, hopefully! Not that one doesn't lead to the other ...

I may have hamstrung myself, however, with the 1913 thing. Total transformation, the TARDIS does good work, social mores of the time ... oh, how to get around it?
