HP Drabble: Rejection

Making the first of my drabble posts from the many lovely prompts given me.

This is for cordelia_v who requested something involving Snape and academic politics. I hope this suffices: one hundred words isn't a lot in which to pull that off. Set sometime before "Half Blood Prince" and quite non-spoilery. And my first attempt at Snape. Most intriguing!

Wow. Very Snape-y ... and also very creepy. This is true Death-Eater Snape, not Snape who is really a good guy underneath it all!

Hee! This is where I confess that I kept a file of all the rejections I had applying for academic jobs but not to feed my angst, mind you, simply so that I didn't bug a department if they'd already decided against me. But I figured it'd work differently for Severus Snape!

Wait, wait! Are you saying that keeping your rejection letters makes you a Death Eater? I've kept every one of mine for all the ten years I've been on the market -- I must have a hundred now -- and I won't get rid of them until my job goes tenure-track. Maybe not even then. Does that mean I'm OMG EVIL?
