ah yes, so much has transpired since my last entry.

to recap: began the masters in the fall and escaped with good grades (two As and a B); switched to the BSN to PhD track in the spring and ended up with fair grades (one W and three Bs).

received an email from the college of of nursing's public relations office a couple of weeks ago. they were asking my permission to be "featured" in an article about the graduates from the colleges in the HPNP (Health Professions, Nursing, and Pharmacy) building. of course i willingly obliged without really knowing what it was all about. :) so i ( Read more... )

YES!!!

took the HESI exam again. this time i came out with a score of 1114! YIPEE!!! HESI says that this score converts to a 98th percentile. i feel vindicated.

will be graduating this friday. tomorrow evening the whole caboodle arrives. have a whole bunch of things to do like fix up around the apartment and stuff...

just finished taking the blasted HESI exam. came out with a score of 870. HESI's passing score is 850 but they have this crazy disclaimer stating that each institution may set their own cut-offs. unfortunately for me, UF's cut-off is 900. so i passed, but i didn't quite make it.

what does this mean? pretty much that i have to take it again.  :(

After a stint with wound and ostomy care, the next day brought on a round at the Operating Room, number 7 specifically.  The circulating nurse, Jackie, was  very accommodating, fitting me with splash goggles and two step stands so that I could get a great ringside view of the procedures.  I watched pre-op and post-op counts of instruments and ( Read more... )

Last summer at the nursing lab, we were taught the basic skills necessary for carrying out wound and ostomy care.  We practiced on dummies and models that approximated the real thing, and were checked off accordingly.

just finished my one-on-one oral midterm exam.  i can't believe we're just about half done with this semester.  tomorrow i begin a new clinical rotation at the oncology unit at the north florida regional medical center.  in less than two months i can actually say that i'm halfway through the program.  gee, how time flies!
