Cool....another DS fan ^_^ That is the one that got me hooked on web comics in the first place. Their message boards are a riot, too.
I totally can't make it to Convergence because it's the same weekend as my college graduation ceremony. I would love to go back to Chicago though. I had a great time there last month.
I set my journal in German because it amused me. I used to study the language in high school....I figured that with the layout remaining the same, people could navigate it well enough. I think my friends are all pretty smart :D I just love the phrase "Kommentar abschicken."
RYN: Yep, it's form Battle Royale. It's the flag for their terrorist group from the second movie.
I did have a nice time at Ceremony. I haven't met many people since coming here for college and having some conversations that don't start off "What's your major? Where're ya from?" was very nice.
I was actually surprised how friendly the people were. I was wearing jean shorts and an Apop shirt so I wasn't sure how well I was going to be fitting in. LOL
awesome. I just saw the second movie recently, so I recognized it. I still like the first one much much better though. I cared more about the characters that time around.
I am always kind of curious how many fans of Japanese popular culture are in the crowd on a given night. I would like to spin some jpop into my sets, but have no idea how well it would go over (unless it is like, Yatta!, and then things basically are a riot!).
Sure, Cere-money is pretty casual as far as dressing up. This is a pretty friendly town in general ^_^ Feel free to stop by the dj booth some time and say hello if you want.
BR1 is a classic. BR2... Well, I liked it a lot more than my friends did. I read some article that explained Fukasaku's childhood and I understood where he was going a lot more.
I don't see how you can ge wrong with jpop. LOL A large number of electro fans seem to be into japanese culture and vice versa. You could always try the Zettai Unmei: Mokushiroku Industrial mix. ::hopes you have some idea of what he's talking about::
Are there a lot of anime clubs and/or stores in Pitt? I looked around on the net but didn't find much.
I don't know that particular mix that you mentioned, but I will at least check it out. The cere-money crowd is a tough one to please usually. Jpop is one of those funky grey areas.
anyhow,
There are anime clubs at Pitt and CMU. There is a store called Kawaii over on Walnut street that specializes in Asian things so cute you'll totally explode. Try asking the pittkiddies community for more store ideas, because I'm blanking out. I know there's another one in Squill somewheres. And of course there's Tekkoshocon, our anime convention in the spring. that is where i get to seriously bust out the jpop at the anime dance. yatta!!
So I really wanted to show that to my friend who was over here last week, and apparently that other link that I posted way back when was to stream the video. And it's broken. grrrrr. I really really hate streaming video.

Um, do you know that your journal stuff is showing up all in German for me? *confused*
I've been buried under work, so I haven't been keeping up with LJ much at all . . . are you coming to Convergence this year?

The best we could find was a teeny tiny one that wasn't even really worth it. also, there is http://www.ministryofsound.com/Music/Singles/BennyBenassi-Satisfaction.htm which is telling me that I don't have the right plug-in, but hey, maybe it will work for you :]
