Until this point in my life, I haven't really been an "expert" on anything. Sure, I knew stuff. I knew enough to hold a job and all that. But as far as being an expert in the sense of knowing more than almost anyone on the planet, that just didn't apply ( Read more... )

LOL... I had that happen -- I was unusually good at focusing *until* Cal, then suddenly I developed an amazing ability to avoid doing what I was supposed to be doing. Maybe it's something in the air. ;o)

I do recall one physics prof admitting to my ex's class that the campus profs in general tended to give huge amounts of work (homework for some majors, reading for others) with the expectation most of it won't be finished. Which was about right... I once calculated that if I'd actually done the reading that my classes required, I'd have been going through 2,500+ pages each week!

I wasted a lot of time mostly playing Bejeweled or watching Britcoms with my roommate. To make myself feel better, I told myself that I'm watching the Britcoms because I'm observing British people in action, which would be important in understanding British literature better.
