i feel really really bad. about life in general. well not my life i guess. Not to sound lame or cheesy or whatever, but i feel really bad about everything down in Louisiana and Mississippi. It just sucks. I hate people who have no compassion for what's going on. For example, a manager i work with likes to think that it's not really a big deal about ( Read more... )

It really isn't any of your business to get mad about the way your manager acts. Maybe she had a bad experience and cannot get over it. It could have been you were just in a bad mood about everything going on and took everything everyone said negatively. Plus, just because you think people are close-minded doesn't give you the right to judge them and assume that they are or that it is the wrong thing to do. Everyone has their opinions and instead of getting angry you should learn to walk away or just tune them out...it is the only logical way.

It's everyone's right to be racist/prejudice if they want, but never appropriate to share those opinions in the workplace. I've worked with the same manager as Andy for over a year. At some points during my job there, this manager has done things that nearly made me bring in literature about equal employment opportunity laws and post it next to the pile of applications.

When it gets to be that kind of situation, and you are in Andy's shoes, it becomes a bit harder to walk away from (something he shouldn't have to deal with at work anyway).

*Grow some balls bitch and leave your name* Yeah, I said it. I take this whole comment back if Alice wrote it but I know she didn't because she's fucking sweet and would never use the word "cannot."

Furthermore, sweetheart, there are many flaws in your argument. FIRST AND FOREMOST: DON'T EVER TELL ANDRES CUADRIO WHAT TO DO OR WHAT HIS BUSINESS IS. Bad experiences don't excuse ignorance; they merely provide grounds for learning and growth. Bad experiences only breed resentment in the immature mind. Although you are correct in noting that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I encourage you to listen and examine those opinions. And, when did "walking away" ever solve anything? One would think that your attendance at such a prestigious institution of higher learning would provide you with a better moral code. So thank you Ms./Mr. Anonymity, I appreciate your opinion, but I now deem it utterly illogical. Feel free to discuss this at length with me; I'd love to share my opinions with you! Have a wonderful day!

Sincerely,

yeah i do think it's my business to get mad b/c when she/he uses certain language when referring to people, it makes me umcomfortable and I have asked her/him many times before to stop using that word in front of me, but she/he doesn't seem to give two shits about what I think. I also don't like it when people don't say who they are when they comment. It's kinda annoying.
