Charity begins in Tanzania

Oft-touted criticisms of charity are that 'half the money is spent on administration and advertising' or 'you can never be sure the money goes where it should' or 'you never know if the money is even useful'. In a lot of cases these apply.

I like charitable things where we can track the progress. I donated this time last year and it was cool to see the follow up letters and pictures throughout the year. I think it's the best kind of charity when you can actually see things happening as opposed to wondering how much the guy in Ofxam is being paid to badger us for cash.

I do something similar here. We have a rescue centre for horses which I donate to and they send me updates and pictures of the horses throughout the year. I even go and visit.
