I took a walk on the week-end and was eaten alive by mosquitos or some other blood-sucking insect. I have 15 red welts on my legs and my calves now look like a big leg of smoked ham. EW. They're just sooo itchy. I work up in the middle of the night cuz they were just driving me insane. I've smothered toothpaste on them in hopes to making this ( Read more... )

when you first get a mosquito bite, wash it quickly with soap water. that's what my granduncle-in-law always tells me. and don't scratch! hope they go away soon!

it's a plant. I'm assuming flower shop?

Basically cut open a 'leaf'/stem. It'll have a gooey-ish inside. Squeeze out the goop and apply to itchy area. It's cool-ish (temp-wise) and helps somewhat w/ the itchiness.

Otherwise, cream helps a bit. Will power more than anything. Sleep it off =)

hahaha... poor you. i got them in a small wooded clearing in markham. it literally took 2 minutes for the insects to smother my body. *sigh* why is my blood so sweet?

nope, didn't think i would be in any woody areas (as the event was at a house) and certainly wasn't expecting to get attacked. it's odd attending a family function smelling like deet.
p.s. no more baking this sunday. it's 35C. we don't have AC, really don't want to turn on the oven. =(

lol I got a couple of bites just now...but reading your story made my itching problems feel minute. you can also get aloe vera gel from pharmacies... it isn't as pure as the plant but is considerably easier to transport around, as well as being less drying on the skin, i think. but the 'real' stuff from the plant is probably the best for a number of organic and soothing reasons ( ... )
