I actually mostly dislike Sylvia myself because of the way she treats Donna, so it was some sort of challenge to myself to write this. I'm very glad that you appreciate the result ;)

Sylvia is just so sad. I worry for her sometimes, after I stop being angry with her. You make me feel compassion for her, which is quite a trick.

Indeed, Sylvia's reaction towards Donna often puzzles me. I initially didn't like her at all, but now I'm beginning to think that she truly loves Donna and is very protective of her, wants the best for her, but just is very bad at actually showing that to her daughter.
Sylvia checking out their clothing was for me a way of her wanting to make sure that the Doctor hadn't "taken advantage" of the situation, so to speak, to show her protective side in its twisted form :)
