Alls I know is that I'm already sick of hearing about the whole Beckham deal. If they would just stick it in sports news, I wouldn't have even heard about it by now but apparently this is an "entertainment event." Consequently, the only people talking about it in USAia are the ones who don't actually care about sports in the first place.

/as an aside, I didn't realize that the entire USAian professional soccer league was worth $250M?

Personally, if I were the god of newspapers (incidentally, I'm not) I'd probably put most of the details in the business section - give that Mr Beckham's net worth is probably larger than that of many small businesses.

In answer to your aside, it really isn't. Beckham is making five times more than the rest of the LA Galaxy put together.
