Buying groceries and being mindful of price at the same time is really confusing. I was trying to decide which laundry detergent to get. I noticed that the generic brand was only $1.99, and all the other brands started at about $5.99. I was tempted to buy the generic but then I thought, is there some REASON that nobody I know buys generic

Cheap laundry detergent will make your clothes fade. If you really want to take care of your stuff, you should use Cheer Free for your light regular clothes, Cheer Free dark for dark towels, T-shirts, and stuff like that, Woolite for lingerie and light-colored nice sweaters and shirts, and Woolite Dark for black sweaters and dark dress pants. This means you have to buy a lot of detergent, but it takes you a while to use it up.
