You take care of yourself! Motivation is a good thing, but there's a boundary from motivation to self abuse! It's good to say "I'm going to get off my butt and go do some excersize!" but when you compare yourself to those girls in magazines (who most of them aren't even real by the way), you start hurting yourself by building up an image you HAVE to attain for yourself that may be unrealistic. I think that you look good the way you are! Soceity just changes its point of view of what a beautiful girl is. In the past the "Bigger women" were considered beautiful. I've heard the song "Mirror" by Barlow girl, and I don't quite understand this paradox. She is singing about how outraged she is that soceity would dare define who she is by what she looks like (Yeah!!! you tell em barlow girl cuz you are so right!!) and you are listening to her while you are comparing yourself to the magazine chicks?
Thanks for your concern, its good to know Im being watched out for!
Im not going to try to make myself like those models, I do know how unrealistic they are. Im just using the posters to keep myself from snacking when I shouldnt be and eating things I dont have on my diet. Its my motivation tool...
The Barlow Girl song motivates me to do things for me. Its so upbeat and positive. I do realize that Im trying to change my physical image, which isnt what the song is about. I guess I like the song because its motivating to hear a girl sing about doing what she wants w/o having to live up to the mirror standards. Plus its just a good beat to run to! :o)
If giving up that stuff is what you think will make you feel better then, good luck. Personally, I think women focus to much on their weight and figure, and I think posting pictures of impossibly beautiful women from magazines might be more of a deterrant than a help. Those pictures can be discouraging because most women will never look that way, no matter how hard they work out or diet. And people who get too worked up about it can end up with an eating disorder. I think that excercise is great, and I wish I had the drive to do it myself, but I think excercising should be your goal, not a supermodel body.
I think I may have given out the wrong idea. My goal is physical fitness so that I feel better about myself - not to look like a supermodel. I know that'll never happen - but only because Im about 4 inces too short! :o)
Those posters actually boost my energy when I look at them because I aspire to be in as great of shape as those women are... I've had PLENTY of experience with anorexia and bulimia, I've talked to you about it. I think that my new motivation is much better than starving myself and purging as I've done in the past to achieve a "perfect" body. Got it buddy! *wink*
